This page explains how users of the NewsFeedReader Android app and NewsFeedReader.com can request deletion of their account and associated app data.

How to request account deletion

1. Open the NewsFeedReader Android app and go to Settings > Delete account, or visit this page directly at newsfeedreader.com/delete_account.
2. If you can sign in, open Account settings for the NewsFeedReader account you want deleted.
3. Select Cancel my account and follow the confirmation prompts. You may be asked to confirm your password before deletion.
4. If you cannot sign in, email administrator@newsfeedreader.com from the email address on your account with the subject NewsFeedReader account deletion.
5. In your email, include the account email address and ask us to delete your NewsFeedReader account and associated data. We may reply to verify account ownership before processing the request.

Data deleted from active systems

After a verified deletion request is confirmed, NewsFeedReader deletes account data tied to your profile from active systems, including:

• Your NewsFeedReader account profile, including name, email address, encrypted password record, OAuth identity links, and account status fields.
• Authentication data tied to the account, including NewsFeedReader mobile authentication tokens and active account access data.
• Your selected feeds, custom feed subscriptions, feed preferences, default feed count, and remember-feeds setting.
• Your saved articles, bookmarks, likes, save-for-later records, and other account-specific reading data.

Data retained and retention periods

Some limited records may be kept after account deletion when needed to operate, secure, or legally protect NewsFeedReader:

• Security, anti-abuse, error, and API request logs may be retained without an active account link for up to 90 days.
• Backup copies of deleted account data may remain in encrypted backups until those backups rotate out, typically within 90 days.
• Support emails and deletion request correspondence may be retained for up to 2 years so we can document and verify the request.
• Records required for legal compliance, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or enforcement of our terms may be kept only as long as necessary for those purposes or as required by law.
• Aggregated or de-identified analytics that do not identify your account may be retained to understand and improve NewsFeedReader.

Processing time

Self-service account deletion is submitted immediately after confirmation. Email requests are reviewed and processed within 30 days after we verify that the requester controls the account.
